| I tested myself with a .sub (and .idx) file [with japanese ideograms], and it worked like a charm :)
Maybe it doesn't fully support them, but IDX subtitles should work.. @Xeeran
Have you checked the option "Enable VobSub support" in Subtitles properties ( CTRL+P -> Subtitles -> VobSub)?
