Default Divx with dual audio tracks

I used to know how to get rid of this problem, but I forgot
Whenever I launch a Divx encoded AVI containing dual audio tracks, there is a message that pops up from a Divx icon in the systray, that says : "this file contains multiple audio tracks".
Then in BsPlayer I try to select the right audio track but it is greyed out.
Any help would be great, thanks,
Grendi

Is the file you are playing DivX 6?

What filters are being used during playback?

Hi everybody from a far-away newbie:

WinXp SP2, DivX 6.1.1, Xvid 1.1.0, AC3 0.70b, BSPlayer 1.37 (Build 826 - 11 Dec 2005) using with a PIII800 and Ati Radeon 9250.

I've almost the same problem with dual movies. I can't select audio tracks with BSPlayer (greyed out), and I could before format c: (I had Win2000 SP4 installed). I realized DivX Settings Manager allows to select two audio tracks: one of them it's ok (english), but when I try to select the other one (spanish, for example), the movie goes fast. I mean, really fast! I've tried to slow it, but it's futile: even at 1/2x I'm not able to understand it. I change to english, and eveything it's ok, normal speed. Any idea?

Thanks anyone. :)

Why do you need that Settings Manager? BSPlayer is able to select any audio track output by most normal media splitters.

I don't remember ever encountered DIVX 6 encoded MPEG4, so I don't know whether it can be decoded without DXN commerical bloatware.

What are the container format(s) of the problematic files [AVI, MP4, MKV, OGG]?

No the file wasn't encoded with Divx 6.
Here are the Gspot information:

- AVI file

- Video : Codec name : DivX 5.0
- Video : 3 compatible codecs installed: Divx Decoder Filter, Xvid MPEG4 Video Decoder, and Divx Decoder Filter (again).

- Audio STream 1 : Codec name : 0x0055(MP3) ID'd as MPEG-1 Layer 3
- Audio Stream 1 : 2 compatible codecs installed : Fraunhofer IIS MPEG Layer 3 Codec (advanced) and ffdshow Audio Decodeer

- Audio Stream 2 : Same as Audio Stream 1

Use:

- regular MS splitter for avi, i suspect DXN stuff has replaced this (but i'm not sure).
- FFDSHOW for DivX 5 decoding
- Frauhoffer MPEG Layer-3 decoder for MP3 (FFDSHOW will do fine too)

If you don't find any reason why to keep DivX Networks stuff – uninstall it. To enable FFDSHOW for DX50/DIVX either reinstall it or bring up its property sheet from a file decoded by it or using the Start Menu shortcut created during setup.

FFDSHOW has no drawbacks except memory usage when this filter is installed. But since you already have it, this is irrelevant.

If you still can't get the file to play properly, send me a link to it so I can examine the file.

Thanks J7N but I have a question:
How can I use this or that codec instead of the ones that are automatically choosen by the video player software?

If you uninstall DXN filters, then they cannot be used. You can also start up GSpot in expert mode and lower the merits of undesirable filters.

I have not tested any DXN software but most likely (keeping in mind the size of installation packages) they install a lot of useless bundled applets. They cause problems. You do not need anything called DivX Player or DivX Bundle, if you have ffdshow installed (and you do).

This can be done also into BSplayer in "Filter management" section -> "Filter manager" tab (the same reported by BSPeter)
