Default divx setting manager icon

divx setting manager icon is the source of the problem
when i disable decoding of generic mpeg-4 movies in the
divx Decoder configuration the icon is gone
is it o.k. to disable it? i have koepi's xvid installed (so i assume that covers it)

I think you can disable DivX logo in its "Decoder Configuration Utility". Go through [Start] > Programs ... etc. In the version I still use (5.2.1) it's on the tab "Quality settings". Perhaps it is similar for "divx setting manager icon" to (not) appear in system tray?

P.S.: I know there have been problems concerning system tray earlier, so could you please let us know if your problem persists or whether you solved it.

Yes, it is o.k. There could be difficulties with e.g. Div3-encoded movies, but I would give it a go. And if you encounter any problems in the future, well, lets worry about those then. (You can use e.g. GSpot then to find out what codec was used for encoding such movie).

thanks that was so fest i am amazed...
you have no idea how irritating that is to watch a 25 episodes season
from your bed (i have tv out) and get up every time an episode starts just
to get rid of the system tray...
if i wanted to get to the pc every time i wouldn't set a play list

ones again thanks !!!!!

a tip to run bs faster on vista:
at the skin menu - disable skinned windows & skinned menus.
because the aero look (vista) lunches and then it's changes to the skin look
it's makes the bs player slower.
also in playlist menu (in properties) set the old style on
looks very good in vista and works better

Just noticed you edited the subjectline of your initial post by adding "+ a fix by BSPeter". This is really undeserved as you - in fact - found the fix yourselves! Once again thanks for the information you provided!

I've got the same problem like SupergamE.
When I disable decoding of generic mpeg-4 movies the icon still appears for a short time, then it goes away. But this is enough for the task bar to show up and steal the focus from BSPlayer when in fullscreen.

I'm using DivX 6.1 with newest BSPlayer on WinXP Pro.

i myself installed divx 5.2.1 then 6.4 then xvid 1.1.2

set xvid to handle all (in the install or by the conig).
set divx not to handle mpeg4 (by the config).
and done.

now the divx icon appears only when divx 3 is on.

The most obvious solution to this problem is not to use DivX (as already been said here at the forums)! It is perfectly possible to watch every movie on earth w/o DivXNetworks software.

Isn't there too many of them?

Hint: Use ffdshow. It may also show up a tray icon (depending on build), but it can be disabled.
