Bsplayer free is a POS, is the paid version better?

I've been using BSplayer android for 5 years on at least 5 android phones. My main use is the background playing of youtube videos. Although it works, it almost always begins to studder, stop, or lock the phone after a duration. This has been my experience on high end (S7) and every other flavor androids up to Android N.

Is the paid version any better or can I expect the same buggyness as the free version?
