Default Crashes when trying to play

I don't know much about DivX and all codecs so here is my problem :
When I load my movie ( a .avi file), it works perfectly (BS Player says "Ready")...
But when I click "Play", It goes to full screen, and crashes, giving me that message (sorry, it's french!) :

I've got the latest version (build 500), I tried installing tons of codecs, I tried throwing this damn computer from the 3rd floor, but it won't work !!

This bugs only occurs with certain files... Strange isn't it?

Installing "tons of codecs" is not necessarily the best you can do; in fact to the contrary. The more you install, the more "risk" you run on conflicts occurring between them. Unneccessary to say that throwing your PC down the stairs or balcony won't help either :P
You don't know by any chance what compression (codec) is used, now do you?
You can easily find out using a program like GSpot or AviCodec.

Further: did you already notice this post perhaps?

Bonne chance!
