For those who cannot open unicode filename, try this:

1. Open Regedit.
2. Go to : HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\FileSystem
3. Look for: NtfsDisable8dot3NameCreation
4. Change value to 0.
5. Copy again the file you want to open. Try to open this file.
6. If the problem persist, restart your PC. and retry step 5.

It's a windows 8 update bug.

Unfortunately with me your solution doesn't work.
My Win is installed on the SSD and the files are located on the HD.
