I'm glad that at least the Ctrl+R thing worked... :D

Can you answer also to my last question: "If you change skin does the problem persists?"

I think it's hard for BSplayer developers to fix this issue since it's hard for all (we and them) to exactly reproduce this bug, and so it's hard to find a solution.. We have to find the REAL cause before they can fix it

@ Tizio.
So, you've been taking intensive romanian lessons and didn't tell nothing ? :))

@ThinKing
Daca nu vorbeai in engleza oricum traduceam eu ca sa priceapa toata lumea, asa e corect. Desi uneori e mai bine, gradul de intelegere exacta al problemei este mai mare atunci cand vorbesti nativ aceeasi limba.
If you wouldn't write in english I would translate it anyway so anybody could understand, that's fair. Sometimes is better to use the same language, it is easy to understand ourselves in our mothertongue.

Apoi as dezinstala XviD si as instala DivX cu optiunea de decodare a tuturor fisierelor MPEG4.

I think that all came from the way the movies were encoded. All are XviD (but wich build ?) and the way it handles the overlay, maybe the video rendering overlay is hiding the one for the main window. For example I have Serenity in XviD with AC3 48.000 so I can't compare. Last thing to try is to swich between video rendering methods, from internal renderer to directdraw and VMR9. And after that, uninstall XviD and install DivX with generic MPEG4 support.

I don't think this should solve the problem, because audio files give also soome errors, but this is clearly (to me) related to the codec used to play the file. I also suggest to install an alternate MPEG decoder, to be more speciffic Elecard, and see exactly what kind of audio compression the files have.

THinKing, da-mi un mail sau intra pe YM, iti dau eu un elecard.

:D Not really, but Internet is a good teacher, and some words are not so hard to undertand since have similarities with Italian (not many, but some are similar)

Some 2000 years ago, latin language was speaked in both our countryes. Since then....

 da, ai dreptate. dacă roman a domni zilele noastre poate vorbesti in latin :D

(it was a bit hard to write this sentence, and I'm sure that the verbs are not right conjugete, but our fater is different ;) )

adicoto 13th February 2006 06:27 PM

Yes, we used to learn latin in school (aquila volare, delfinum natare docent).
We still have:
aquila-acvila (q-cv in latin)
delfinum-delfin
natare~natatie

It's interesting to compare latin based languages. I do talk a lot of french nowadays due to the specific of my work, and I find more and more similar words. Even spanish has many words easy to understand.

Maybe my verbs were also wrong conjugated :D in italian, but I hope we both understand the ideea.

Tizio 13th February 2006 06:49 PM

wow, I didn't expected so many similarities between our languages and for me too it's pretty simple to understand some french and spanish words, but since they are all latin based..
thank you for your elucidations on latin <-> romanian relationships

To conclude and to close the offtopic side of this topic :))

In bocca lupo
In gura lupului

Here in Italy the meaning of "In bocca al lupo" is Good Luck  and the answer is "Crepi!" = shall he die
Ok, OFF TOPIC closed :D

might as well be skin problem, cause ctrl+r works. I am using PhantomLORD´s Showtime v1.4 (+full screen skin)

Tizio 14th February 2006 12:07 AM

Have you tried with other skins?

ThinKing 14th February 2006 06:12 PM

Hi all!

I have read all that you write and what can I say! I am glad I have found some really nice friends here.
As my fellow countryman, adicoto, said the Italian, Spanish and Romanian languages have common roots in latin. Many words are still recognizible in the other languages.

As for the BSplayer's problem, I use the default skin, "base", and I have installed ffdshow-20051221-gcc4.0.2-sse-x264.nl.exe.
When I changed the skin, I noticed the BSPlayer's window appear even at movied I have said it didn't (like King Kong (xvid, mpeg layer III, 2ch, 48000 Hz)
serenity (xvid, mpeg layer III, 2ch, 48000 Hz)
The Constant Gardener (2005) (xvid, mpeg layer III, 2ch, 48000 Hz)
two.for.the.money.tc.xvid-asteroids (xvid, mpeg layer III, 2ch, 48000 Hz) )

The skin I set is Mediabox v-2. It's one of the skins BSplayer comes with. But I looked among the skins on the site and I choose BSmetal and MC-2w (I like straight forward skins - simple is better) and I see there is also no problem in displaying the main window. Could the base skin have a bug?

:)

I doubt that the problem resides in the Base skin, but tomorrow I'll look at the code (but I'm pretty sure it's all correct). Probably the cause can reside in skin engine.

Try to use new BSplayer v1.38 and let us know if the problem persists

ThinKing 16th February 2006 07:45 PM

With the new version, I think the problem is solved. I will keep testing it for a while. I am curious Tizio, what was the problem?

Tizio 16th February 2006 07:56 PM

I don't really know... I looked at the base skin code and it seems that all it's ok, maybe a skin engine bug, or caodec compatibility issue or...a your system problem I-don't-know-how fixed with the new version

Have you tried to build .BSZ skin from Base one and seen if the problem persisted?
If you don't know how to make a .bsz skin you can use my program BSP SkinMaker (link in my sign)..

Still a reeeeeally strange bug for me :P

many thanks to the Q

I had same problem.
The audio is on, but the window-screen is not visible. If pressing [F] key from keyboard, is calling the full screen function and the movie is visible on my screen. This is a problem half resolved.
The full resolved problem is like this:
Enter into your [Display Settings] - and when you see the monitor 1 and monitor 2 rectangles (assuming you have 2 monitors) switch them by dragging one in front of another. Dont forget to press Apply. Open your bsplayer. If the window-screen is showing, just drag it to the other monitor. Now close the bsplayer. Switch back the monitors into the original position. Start bsplayer again. You should have your window-screen in the right place now.

I think(but i didnt do it yet), by unplugging the cord of the second monitor and starting the bsplayer while you have a Single monitor working, should do the trick just fine. Move the bsplayer-window-screen a bit just to register other coordinates in its initialization file. Close the player. Plug in back the second monitor and it should appear in its correct position on screen.

The last option(also not tried) is to get the initialization file, search for your movie name inside it, delete all the saved properties for that movie name, and you basically have the movie as it was never played before by your player. Save the file!

HOW TO FIX ALL WINDOW ISSUES

Very late to the party but I know how to resolve your issues with windows missing without doing reinstalls...

- Close BSPlayer if open
- Go to BSPlayer folder
- Go into the folder "insfiles"
- Open the file "BSPlayer.xml" with notepad
- Find the lines...

<PlayWinPos type ="int">###</PlayWinPos>
...for the video window...

<MainWinPos type="int">###</MainWinPos>
...for the main window.

In both cases the ### number is the location of the window in terms of on-screen pixels (I assume). So if you replace the number with say "1", then save the file, when you open BSPlayer the window should have moved.

(You'll likely need admin access to the folder if it won't let you save.)
