AVI video problem

I am getting this error when trying to open certain AVI video files with BS PLayer:

BSplayer v1.37.826, Unhandled exception at EIP: 30F87540
If you click 'Close' application will be terminated.

I have Windows XP Home edition SP1, and the correct xvid codecs installed. The funny thing is, the video will play in IrfanView, but not at all in BSPlayer.

Why am I using this older version? Adware-free, so don't even suggest to upgrade, I'm not going to.
