Default I WANT THE "MOVE BY KEYFRAME" FEATURE!

GOMplayer allows users to move in the avi files by keyframes, which is blindingly fast when compared to anything else.

BSplayer should implement it too, and also enhance it in such a way that it would allow move by keyframes with arrows and move by chosen time period with ctrl+alt+arrows or any other sane key combination.

I WANT THIS, IT IS ONE OF THE BEST GOM FEATURES!!!

Use >(.) and <(,).
You can define how many seconds to jump in preferencies

I don't think you understood, jump by KEYFRAME. As opposed to jump by time-point. You, as a programmer, would have to calculate the correct timepoint then find the nearest next keyframe and jump there. It's much faster than jumping by timepoint and looking for an exact frame for that timepoint. Have you actually seen how fast this is in GOMplayer?

I think you misunderstood. You jump to the nearest keyframe and decode until the specified time it's reached. I believe you are aware thet MPEG files have a keyframe at about 20 seconds (not to mention that nowadays MPEG2 decoding it's made by bitrate), XviD compressed avis are about one keyframe at 10-15 secs, while x264 files have about 1 keyframe at 5 seconds. Not to mention that many Div3 files have a keyframe each second. So, jumping by keyframe won't have the same behaviour with each file.
So, if you like the sugestion about using the scroll function, be my guest and use it. If not, I hope BS.Player's developpers will put this option on their TODO list .

Yes, I am aware of all that may be associated with the keyframe-only jumping.
In my proposed solution there would be no decoding once the player finds the next nearest target keyframe. Hence speed. Of course, this invites the inaccuracy in jumping, but hey, have you seen how fast it is? There is nothing better when you want to quickly go through a file holding a key, you can actually display/render the keyframes in realtime [=no pause visible for a human] while holding the forward key.

F*ck, I just made a comparison, BS.player is SLOW compared to GOM if Gom has the "jump by nearest keyframe" switched on. Yes, it is actually inaccurate, but you can go back and forward holding a key SOOOO quickly!

This is a musthave.

Default BS.Player free video player

It seems reasonable future request, we might add it in future versions.

It may be fast, but it is also highly inaccurate, ie. +-2s offset at 10s jump, so it would be usable only for non-demanding users.

F*** that, I want an option to use it. Better yet, make it default behavior and make an option to switch it off/on for advanced users

Also, Peter, please remember to implement a non-move-by-keyframe keys that jump to exact frame/time in avi along with configurable move-by-keyframe keys.

I would set my BS.player install this way:
inaccurately jump by keyframe with arrows
ctrl+arrows jump by exact time period (the usual way of jumping)

This is what GOM doesn't have (in GOM you can either jump by keyframe or jump by exact time/frame, but not both at the same time just with different keys), so it would be awesome to differentiate.

Note, I'm just a BS.Player user (like you). I'm not the creator of BS.Player, nor a developper nor a member of BS.Player team! In fact I'm not employed in the software business nor do I have any experience in that area at all. I just wanted to let you know that your "wish" was meanwhile not only announced but also fulfilled.

You can jump to keyframes by pressing the arrow keys, and by 10 seconds (by default) by pressing "," / "." keys
If you want to jump by time by pressing CTRL+ARROWS just set that shortcut in BSplayer preferences (CTRL+P -> Key definitions & WinLIRC)
