You didn't tell the version of ffdshow and what type of video you're playing and what type of graphics card you use. [See my Help2Help-post, items (2), (3) and (re ffdshow) (a) under MISCELLANEOUS.]
I personally don't use ffdshow, so I've no experience with it.
I would try if a different setting under
(rightclick >) Options > Preferences > Video > Video rendering
makes any difference?
(By the way: did you check settings of ffdshow properties concerning luminance/gamma/hue/saturation/remember settings)?
Otherwise I would try if using proper codecs (start with the minimum!) instead of ffdshow-filter solves your problem.
