Question not entirely clear.
If no movie appears on TV could you try a different "Rendering mode" under
(rightclick >) Options > Preferences > Video > [Video rendering] ?
However, if movie is shown on TV: is TV showing full screenarea same as your computer monitor or ...? What happens if you depress [H]?
For subtitles try "Draw subtitles to Overlay surface" under:
(rightclick >) Options > Preferences > Subtitles > [Subtitle properties] ?
