Default No sound until I seek forward or back.

I've suddenly developed a weird problem under WinXP SP2. I have no idea what started this, but now when I click on a multimedia file (mp3, avi, mpg, mov, wmv) they'll open in BSPlayer Pro 2.12, but there's no sound...until I fast forward or backward, and then the sound works normally.

If I click stop and then play, it restarts with no sound again.

And I've just discovered this isn't a BSPlayer problem...I'm getting the same behavior if I open the files in Windows Media Player 11. But I'm still hoping that the experts here might have some idea what's going on.

My sound card is a Creative Audigy 2 Platinum EX, and I haven't recently touched any of the settings for that.

Help?
