And old versions could? :?: There was been some updates in BSplayer code to handle unicode characters in filenames, but I think that it's not perfect... If you can provide the whole sentence to BS.Player's authors maybe they'll be able to improve unicode support. Maybe the filename was too long? How many chars was it long?

There has been partial support for unicode file names since version 1.30.818 and drag & drop should work for unicode files since version 2.10.939. Have no idea if latest version has problems with unicode. (I don't have such files.) A topic which returns every now and then.
