Default Color controls not working with Forceware 162.18

I've just installed both BSplayer 2.21 b950 and the latest Forceware. Now when I try to adjust brightness/contrast, nothing happens. I use the sliders and the video stays dark. I'm afraid it's nvidia's new shitty control panel that's the cause. I also use Powerstrip to quickly change color settings before I run a game, since my monitor is veeeery old.

Any help?

What decoder filter is used when playing your movie?
(rightclick >) Options > Filters > Advanced

Maybe read this post.

The entries under Options > Filters > Advanced are:

Default Directsound Device
AC3Filter
DivX Decoder Filter
EQ
MPEG Layer-3 Decoder
AVI Splitter
Source

Fortunately Home and End work, I never tried them :)

What does "HW" stand for, anyway?

Same thread: http://forum.bsplayer.org/viewtopic.php?p=18581#18581

Is box "Yuv Extented Mode" of DivX properties/Quality settings unchecked (deselected)?

Another user (Italian) posted me a PM with the same problem... He was able to change color settings by using HW shortcuts, but not by using the Color control panel..
I don't know if he changes his drivers lately (I asked but didn't received a reply), but some time ago he was able to change those settings simply by using BSplayer color control panel..

I still use old drivers (84.xx) on my old NVIDIA card and on my laptop without problems

My bad, it's XVid, not DivX.

The options are as follows:

Postprocessing: deblocking (Y), deblocking (UV), film effect

Output: flip video, compatibility renderer, output colorspace (no force, YV12, YUY2, RGB24, RGB32)

FourCC support: DIVX, DX50, mp4v

Everything's unchecked.

Tizio: a lot of game require the latest drivers. For instance, Lost Planet wouldn't run on the previous Forceware but it did when I installed 162.18.

Yes, I know that several games need latest driver to work correctly, but with some cards this is not required and often they work better with older drivers..

But with newer cards I think is always better to update drivers ;)
(the used I spoke about was using a really old video card ;) )

I just read a post about v162.18 that lead to other problems related to rivatuner for overclock settings, ntune and other programs.. problems that don't exist with v165.01

I don't know if 165.01 are beta drivers, but I would suggest you to try them (if you have problems with them you can always install other vesrions ;) )
