Default HELP !! .Avi crash driving me nuts

First off, thank you for such an awesome player. I REFUSE to use any other video playing software as my main player. I feel in love with BS player since the first time using it years ago.

But this .AVI file crash has me completely frustrated. I'm using BS player Pro 2.22 build 952. Bs Player completely crashes by quickly closing itself after about 4-5 seconds of playing an .avi video file. The bug is entirely repeatable and will happen EVERY TIME I go to play a .avi file.

I can only assume my codecs are properly configured because this does not happen when I open a .avi in Media Player Classic or other test players.

I know this is a known issue, but I can't find ANY fix ! Help please. :P

Please tell us what codecs get loaded when you play an AVI. If you can't see the list because program crashes too soon, quickly navigate to the relevant menu (rightclick->options->filters), press printscreen, and then write down the filter names. For comparison, see also what codecs MPC uses. MPC is actually a proper player and has many free software decoders built-in.

Thanks !

Ok the FFDSHOW video decoder opens. I recently updated this codec and the problem still persists. The Decoder configuration has never been changed by me so its default.

Also the same codec icon appears on my taskbar while using Media Classic as well.

ffdshow audio and ffdshow video are the only filters that I can see in use when playing back an .avi.

There must be a splitter of some kind. A couple of software products install their own AVI splitter. I was guessing that this might be the problem.

Looks more like a badly cracked PRO version than a splitter problem.

You're must be more informed about these hidden timebombs. Can't argue.

I am not. But maybe Tizio or BSPeter can confirm this.

Yes, it's probably the time bomb introduced in v2.21
