Exclamation BSPlayer messing with FFDshow - let's avoid that!

As you can see here on this Doom9 thread:
MPC rejecting FFDSHOW? (solved) - Doom9's Forum

I have conducted several tests and tried to install BSPlayer PRO 2.35 (yes, the last version), but this bug is affecting me.

Quote:
BS.Player messes up the installation. Don't let it install anything. Use the official installers instead.
The thing is, you can download and use newer versions from all codecs listed by BSP while you are trying to install. But let's assume you already have FFdshow installed. If you let BSP download and install a new FFDshow version, you will not be able to use FFDShow again! It will not be listed as a filter being used while you are playing any XVID file.

And don't even attempt to do one of the following:

Quote:
Make sure the desired video format is enabled in ffdshow's "Video decoder configuration". See the "Codecs" page and make sure the "Decoder" is set to "libavcodec" (not "disabled").

If BSP doesn't use ffdshow, but another filter instead, goto "Options" -> "External Filters" in BSP, add "ffdshow Video Decoder" to the list and make it "prefer".
It won't work either.

I even tried to remove FFDshow and install again. Not working. So I uninstalled both FFDshow and BSPlayer. Then I tried to install them disconnecting my internet.

And it worked!!!!

Now I am able to use BSP and FFDshow together.

No question about this. Do not let BSP attempt to install FFDshow by itself. Avoid that at all costs. It's best to follow what the guy said:

Why this was happening is beyond me.

adicoto is on a distinguished road
Default

BSPlayer installs ffdshow.ax in a separate folder (local install just to be used by BSPlayer). If you want to modify smth, you must uninstall BSPlayer's install and afterwards do anything you want.
