if your subtitles are earlier than they should, you can use a .bsi file and in [Subtitles] ... startTime=the advance the subtitles have on the movie. or maybe use subDelay=number of frames early. if it's another problem ( subtitles are late ), it's much easier to dl another sub file and try it. try divxsubtitles.net or a french site http://divx.zemeilleur.com hope it helps.

A very easy program to sync either .smi .srt and/or .sub format subtitles is Vladimir's SubSync and I use it rather frequently (as indeed it happens moreoften that the sources of the avi videos and of the (mostly) .srt subtitles differ, than that it occurs that both originate from the same source).
