Since you don't even know how it works, please take a look at the sticky post from BSPeter "READ THIS FIRST BEFORE POSTING" item (9) first

Did you(in that post) also click on the (lightblue) link 'this thread' in the line:
(For some additional info on loading/playing subtitles perhaps also check this thread.)?
If that information did not help you at all, maybe you could start by telling us the type of subtitles, the top two settings under (rightclick > Options > Preferences > Subtitles) and the 'Rendering mode' under rightclick > Options > Preferences > Video > Video rendering

Have you also read this post?
Ok, then let's try to sort it out
In the first lines BSPeter say that BSplayer support text based subtitles and few lines below he also say that text-based subtitles files are small files (25-50 kB). If you don't know how to read the size of a file, right click on it and choose Preperties (it should be last menu item) and in the properties window you'll be able to read it. Latest BSplayer releases also support picture-based subtitles and they are really bigger than text-based ones (1-5 MB).

Can you tell us what type of subtitles you have? (also the extension please. To read the extension, you have to enable their visualization. Open "My computer" on the desktop, click on the "Tools" menu item, then "Folder options", Visualization tab, and deselect the option "Hide extensions for most common file types". Now you can read the last 3 chars of the file name after the dot)

If the subtitle file has the same name as the movie one and it's placed in the same folder, then BSplayer should load it automatically, otherwise you can load it by right clicking on BSplayer and then choose "Load subtitle".

The file you downloaded was a .RAR file? If the answer is yes, you first need to decompress the RAR archive (you can use WinRAR for this, or the freeware 7zip utility)
Once you unrar that archive you only need to place the subtitle file in the same folder as the movie with the same name (if you want the file name can be followed by other words, but at least the first must be the same).

i.e. for a Matrix.avi movie file the following subtitles will be automatically loaded:
Matrix.srt
Matrix - eng.srt
Matrix - sub.srt
Matrix blablah.srt

and these will not be loaded:
The_Matrix.srt
Math matrix.srt
Matri - sub.srt
Mathrix.srt

No, you can leave all movies in that same folder; no problem whatsoever!

If you downloaded from that website the subtitlefile will indeed most probably have been compressed, and you first have to unRAR/unZIP it; please check that first. The subtitle file itself will probably end with the extension ".srt" (or ".sub" or ...)
