You fail to say what graphics card (and driver) you have, but I could imagine that if you change your driver to the previous one it would also reverse this behaviour. (Do you happen to have already read this thread?)
(2) Adware-support for free version was abandoned about a year ago already now (click here to read). So also most up-to-date free version has no adware companion. Also you can deselect BS.Player's toolbar at installation and/or or uninstall it lateron if you don't like it.
