Default DVD problem

Hi! I can only play DVD's in my BS Player if I manually open one of the VOB files. If I try to run it by "Open DVD..." function I get an error: "Unknown file format () or corrupted file!". I was able to watch DVD's normally before, I don't know what happened. Please help. :)

Yes, I knew about that thread, but it doesn't indicate how you effectively solved this same(?) issue at that time.
There was no feedback from you in that thread on how you eventually managed to repair the problem.
Did you update, install or uninstall any programs recently?
Do other Pro-features still work (like e.g. subtitle-editor)?
I'm on Pro 243 1008 and have no problems in playing DVD.

I did what moderator "adicoto" told me in that thread. I downloaded that codec and installed (registered) it. After that it was working fine for a long time.

I didn't update, install or uninstall nothing that could change something about that - at least I think so.

Subtitle-editor works fine.

I re-registered that codec, but still no success.

Please help!

That codec ... being ?? It wasn't by any chance a codec with a trial period, which doesn't work now any more as the trial period has elapsed?

I'm not sure it isn't a time-limited version.
If you play a VOB-file, what is shown now under
rightclick > Options > Filters > Advanced ?

@adicoto: Mind it's a screenshot of him playing a VOB-file, which makes a difference (at least with me: also MS quartz.dll) as opposed to playing a DVD (MS qdvd.dll).

(I asked him to do that as I suspected perhaps another codec/filter had taken over from Elecard, but this appears not to be the case.)

Hello again!

Today I uninstalled that codec and BS Player and reinstalled them both, but with no success. What else can try to solve this problem? Is there maybe some other free codec to play DVDs?

Please help!

To fully play a DVD you need an MPEG2 decoder and a DVD source decoder. Elecard's can be the first. The second one...intervideo or cyberlink
