bug: yv12 not handled in internal renderer

whenever i try to play a file forcing yv12 output in the decoder (eg ffdshow) bsplayer tells me "cant create directdraw surface"

i guess thats easily reproduceable

support for official mpeg-4 subtitles in mp4

the subtitle format defined in the mpeg-4 standard (part 17) is mpeg-4 timed text

it can be used already inside the mp4 container and haalis mp4 parser also already supports it

Loading MP4 files takes very long/freezes

i use free bspayer build 817 (latest) and i noticed that the loading of mp4 files in bsplayer takes very long and sometimes also leads to that bsplayer freezes (meaning no buttons can be pushed...

thats not the fault of bsplayer, but the fault of...

thats not the fault of bsplayer, but the fault of the nero mp4 parser

nero seems to limit a lot of features of their dshow filters to allow only to be used in their tools (like nero showtime)

i noticed slow seeking in bsplayer with long .mp4 files. especially if i try to jump from the beginning to the end, it seems as if bsplayer analyses the whole file before playing the end...

you do know that .3gp is not .mp4? .mp4...

you do know that .3gp is not .mp4?

.mp4 files contain aac and/or mp3 audio, 3gp files contain aac and/or amr audio

if your .3gp contains amr you will need a amr decoder of course (should work...

audio stream switcher doesnt work with .MP4 files!

i noticed that bsplayer doesnt allow switching multiple audio streams internally :(

it simply plays all simultainiously

if you want i can send you some mp4 test samples :)

@bst - HowTo make the Aspect-Ratio-Feat work with all files:

check out the 3ivx vfw codec!
it already supports adding an AR to .avi, when you mux this .avi with the 3ivx directshow muxer you will get a spec compliant (!) .mp4 files...

when you have sync issues because of choppy video playback, thats because of a weak cpu -> you need a player that allows using "overlay mixer" i think that bsplayer 1.0 already incorporates this...

yeah, it works with 3ivx, but not with enviviotv ds filter

note that envivio is able to also decode "advanced content" like dvd-like menues and user interactivity in mp4 (which 3ivx doesnt handle)

the only point is that in bsplayer there will be choppy playback as it isnt able to use the overlay mixer renderer as i wrote...
