Trouble with Avi-files I was hoping you could help me out... I'm having strange trouble viewing AVI-files with BSPlayer and Windows MP 9. The videos seem to "speed-up", ie. a 5 minute clip is run through in less than 20 seconds. DivXplayer plays avi-files with no problem and G-spot tells me I've got the required codecs for the viewing of that specific file (Max Payne - Hero.avi) and all other avis I've tried to play as well. DivXPlayer plays them without any problem, but it sucks, I'd much rather use BSPlayer. Please, someone give me a clue of what's wrong? My codecs are: OggDS0995 XviD.Root.24.02.2003.1100 ac3filter_0_70b ffdshow-20040514 DivXPro511Bundle Indeo Video Codec v5.1 avicod10 And my system is: Asus P5GD1 Motherboard P4 (775-socket) 2.8 GHz HT 1024 DDR 400 Mhz (twinmos 512x2 dual-channel) Ati Radeon X600 XT 128 PCI-Express Win 2k pro |

(uninstall before upgrading!) If that doesn't help you can try going to DivX decoder configuration and in "quality settings" checking "Support Generic Mpeg-4" [edit] oh, and be sure not to use ffdshow when testing = go to ffdshow config and change decoders to "disabled" |
| |||
So I guess upgrading didn't help? If DivX config tool crashes then unistall DivX download it again from divx.com and install. When you play something in BSplayer in right click menu in "options" option, there is "filter" option. There you see decoders that BSplayer use to play that specific file. If ffdshow isn't used to play broken files then there is no need to disable it, if it is, just click on it there, and you will see config window. |
| |||
Whoops, sorry for not explaining ^^ ffdshow config --> codecs tab there you have three columns: format, decoder and the third one. the "decoder" column is configurable, set it to "disabled" for all codecs (that will actually disable ffdshow) or at least for xvid and divx coodecs. |

Alright, done playing around with ffdshow configuration (I disabled everything that said xvid or divx). Now I uninstalled DivX 5.1.1, downloaded 5.2.1 version and installed it, unchecked Support Generic MPEG-4... Still not working. Any more ideas? PS. I've noticed the same effect on some mpg-files as well. Not all, but some. |

I actually ment to check not uncheck support generic mpeg.. You can try: 1) Play some different movies in BSplayer (for example also those mpeg one), and when playing, go to filters menu, then click advanced, and note somewhere what codecs are used to play each file. See if any codec is repeating for every movie that have that error. Also you can check some movies that are played normally, and see if they use other codecs then those played with super speed. Remember that you can see (almost) every codec options from advanced tab, so maybe somewhere you will find something like "super speed" or something... (<-- very doubtfully). Sometimes changes in codec config might require movie restart! (close, open) 2) download latest GSpot (the beta version), you can use it to do movie previews when using different decoders configuration. There are buttons with "1" "2" ["3"] in two sections: "GSpot" and "MS". When you press "1" and then "2" in "MS" section, you will see movie played using standard decoders config. When you press "1" and then "2" in "GSpot" --> "vid" section you will be given some alternative decoders config (it will be written something like "use [3] to play"). What you do is you right-click on every config that have green row under it, and click "play this graph". See if any of this configurations give you normal play, or all are messed up. |

You know what... Something REALLY strange just happened. You told me to check the Support General MPEG-4 instead of unchecking it. Sooo, I ran bsplayer and opened that same .avi file I've been testing so I could play around with the filters again. Well, this time the avi played just fine. I was like :shock: double-you-tee-ef, mates? It works now. I opened one mpg-file that was causing me trouble as well and it worked fine too! I don't know what I did, a couple of minutes ago none of those worked. I propably just messed things up big time. Anyways, thanks for your help! Bsplayer PWNZ and I'm so glad I got it to work alright. |

So it was codec issue after all... Support generic MPEG makes DivX play everything it can play, including XviD encoded files, as well as some other mpegs. The conclusion is simple: some other codec is messed up. The reason why DivXPlayer was able to play things well, is because this player is made by DivX developers and they set it to use DivX to play everyting. Glad I could help. |

Alright, the problems started again. Without touching *any* of the settings, the videos went all "super-speed" again. Suprisingly, when I ran Winamp at the same time (listening to some music) the videos played just fine. When I stopped the track or closed winamp, the video went all super-speed again! So whenever I pushed the play-button on winamp, the videos played like they should, so maybe the problem is with the audio side? Help. This is getting really, really weird. |

try removing anything related to divx, xvid, mp3, ac3 and so on. remove all codec packs like nemo, tsunami. install only one version of divx, xvid, ac3 filter (moonlight is the simpliest). try using system restore. ........im out of ammo |

I tried Codec Sniper... Got 82 entries. Is that normal? Quote:

I'm sorry, I'm a total newbie in this. I didn't really understand your question. Could you "rephrase" it for me? Quote:

Open some of the files wich create problems. Rightclick, go to Options->filters and see there if the sound is related with an AC3 decoder\filter (such as AC3Filter or Intervideo Audio Decoder) or is related to MP3 decoder\filter (such as Fraunhofer). In the second case, please tell us wich MP3 decoder is listed there. I didn't asked for the list, just for the MP3 decoder (5 posts ago :lol: ). |
