Default Problem about xvid and several audio streams

I can't read an xvid with 2 audio streams :
the player says it can't find the xvid codec ??

But when I remove an audio stream from the same video (with vDub), the video is played.

I'm on vista, using the koepi xvid release and bs 2.27 pro build 958.

Any idea ?
Thx.

Install latest FFDShow and see if the problem persists

But the xvid codec is installed.
I shouldn't need to install ffdshow.

Isn't bs player supposed to deal with multiaudio AVIs ?

Yes, but probably the splitter used by BSplayer in conjunction with xvid when you open that video isn't able to detect the second audio stream

Yeah maybe.

And the video plays fine with an old version of bsp (1.22).

It's strange.

Please compare v2.27 and v1.22 (with the video in question loaded) the data on the filters/codecs as actually used by BSPlayer under
(rightclick >) Options > Filters > Advanced
(Be sure to also click on the [+]-squares)

That's weird.

My xvid with 2 audio streams is recognized as divx with bsp 2.27 (not with bsp 1.22)

Any idea ?

Any difference if you also select VMR9 as "Rendering mode" for 2.27 version?
(rightclick>) Options > Preferences > Video > [Video rendering]

It would be obvious that you need to remove DivX.

The first instrument of video piracy/backup was called DivX. Ironically the time of DivX is long over now. The product that is now distributed under this title is obsoleted by Xvid on the encoding and ffdshow on the decoding side.

We are quite aware that you're not a fan of DivX. I'm still happily using DivX5.2.1 though (also for XviD)!

DivX 5 is quite a different beast. DivX 6 on the other hand tries to duplicate BSPlayer's functions besides normal video decoding. From the two screenshots posted we can see that the problem case has DivX stuff loaded, while the properly working setup has not.

BTW, what is the purpose of MP3 Decoder DMO? How it is different from l3codec.ax?

I'm not sure but I suppose DMO means Dekoda Moonlight Odio (in its French word-order), i.e. mlcom.ax (Elecard/Moonlight Cordless)

So to conclude, the divx 6 codec was preventing bsp to correctly decode a xvid multiaudio avi.

I've removed it and the video plays fine.
I will replace it with ffdshow like you said.

Thx

From the two screenshots we can also conclude that in the working v.1.22 VMR9 was selected as Video rendering mode and in the non-working version 2.27 another video rendering mode. That's why I suggested to also try VMR9 in v.2.27 to find out if that would make a difference and whether AVI splitter would have been used then (assuming both versions are installed on the same PC with the same codes installed).

DMO stands for DirectX Media Object.

Both AVI splitters are quartz.dll

DivX decoder have the nasty habit to steal the splitting for multiple audio channels. It would be obvious to uninstall it, like J7N said. I personally don't use DivX around one year allready.

And apart from just a day or two, I've never used DivX6.x and continued using DivX5.2.1 as my principal decoder.

P.S.: Quote from another forum:
DivX Demux, with ID = {85516702-9C45-4A9C-861B-BC4492D355DC},
and filename = DivXMedia.ax
