Default m2ts

Is a new to me codec.
I playBS player, and the pic freezes for a second or 2,or goes out of synch.
Any suggestions.
I love my 720p & 1080p rips.
No problem with 720p,just 1080p.
What's the difference between 1080p & 1080i?

The difference between "p" and "i" it's in the way the frames are displayed. P comes from progresive, meanning that a frame that it's displayed line by line, while I comes from interlaced, meaning that every frame it's splitted in 2, each sub-frame it's interlaced with the other.

Here is an example of how lines are displayed
P mode:
- line 1
- line 2
- line 3

I mode
- line 1
- line 3
.
.
- line 719
-line 2
-line 4
.
.
- line 720

1080p it's the most processor consuming.

You didnt specify the problem with 1080p.

It's a good idea to convert m2ts file if you are new to this format which will help you easily work with it.

But, it's a hit to the quality.

Basically, you can convert them to simple MPEG2 files, using HDTV2MPEG or something like that.

For well over a year now I have a Canon HG10 HDD videocamera and have been shooting HD-videos in XP and HXP mode (9Mbps resp. 15Mbps) [1440x1080i]. It outputs .m2ts-video files (which is a format like the .raw-format for photos and it is used by e.g. Canon, Sony and Panasonic), a format like that used for BluRay. The package contained i.a. (Corel) Intervideo WinDVD SE, which can play this raw format and (Corel) Ulead DVD MovieFactory SE to edit and author the movies and create a DVD or AVCHD. MovieFactory can, however, also "export selected fragments" in the more common .mpg format.
I've on occasion (on another PC) also used (the free version of) Any Video Converter to convert m2ts to (DVD) mpg. I've (at that time) also found other free programs like e.g. Super which can do this conversion too and I'm sure you can find them as well!

P.S.:
From a test (in Dutch) of 7 commercial AVCHD converters I understand the best paid converters are (in this order) Elecard Converter Studio AVC HD Edition, AVCHD Upshift, Voltaic HD and AVS Video Converter (v. 6.2 in the test).

I don't want to convert m2ts,the quality's great.
BS should be able to handle it.
My CPU's maxing out, making the pic jerky.

M2ts requires a high end CPU and graphics card and I would say 4MB(*) memory minimum.
So, what are the specs of your PC (CPU, Graphics card, Memory, OS)?

(*) Edit: I -of course - meant 4 GB of (random access) memory and not 4MB; thx adicoto for pointing out this error to me.

@BSPeter
You probably meant to write 64 MB of RAM (not 4 MB) on your video card, but you lost the 6 by mistake. (or 4 GB of RAM)

Converting from M2TS to simple MPEG2 won't affect quality and can be done in real time by an usual CPU (1 minute video wil be transformed in 1 minute)

Transport stream (TS, TP, MPEG-TS, or M2T) is a communications protocol for audio, video, and data. It is a type of digital container format that encapsulates packetized elementary streams and other data. TS is specified in MPEG-2 Part 1, Systems (ISO/IEC standard 13818-1)

MPEG transport stream - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

HDTVtoMPEG2 Home Page
This program converts HDTV MPEG2 tansport stream files to standard MPEG2 video files playable (mostly) by media player, many software DVD player programs, and readable by video converter programs like FlaskMPEG and Vidomi.

ATSC MPEG2 transport stream files are the raw data sent to your Digital television from the broadcaster, and contain multiple mpeg video and audio streams which can be tuned by your digital tuner. These streams differ from standard MPEG2 files in that they encapsulate the standard MPEG2 stream data in small 188 byte packets that are easy to transmit and decode.

HDTVtoMPEG2 simply processes the .TS transport stream files, extracting the data from each of these 188 byte packets, and reconstructing a standard MPEG2 file from them.

I indeed meant 4GB of RAM. Thx for correcting my error!

P.S.: I wouldn't call a video card with 64MB memory a high end graphics card.
With respect to the video card memory I would say nothing below 512MB.
For conversion to mpg indeed any normal average PC/CPU will do (that's also what I did and thought of when I mentioned in my post "on another PC").
