When testing (trying to reproduce this) it also seems that "Use outline font" and/or "Use 'shadow' effect for subtitles" being selected or not makes no difference. (It does in example but not in video-window.)

"Use outline font" and "Use 'shadow' effect for subtitles" have no function, when new sub renderer is selected. We will correct this in Preferences. The link to the screenshot does not work anymore.
